I have a confession to make... I wear foundation to the beach.
Yes, I am vain, but that's not actually why I do that. It’s about sun protection. I wear a lightweight foundation that contains SPF, but more importantly, it has titanium dioxide, a natural UV blocker. So while I’m enjoying the ocean breeze, my skin is getting an extra layer of defense against sun damage.
You don’t have to love makeup, but there are benefits to wearing a foundation in addition to coverage. A good one provides an extra barrier against pollution, dirt, and sun exposure.
Here are a few other things you can do to improve the health of your skin:
✅ Use Clean Hands to Apply Skincare
Your hands touch everything, and bacteria can transfer to your skin—leading to breakouts and irritation. Wash your hands before touching your face and use a spatula for creams when possible.
✅ Use A Toner
Many people either skip toner entirely or use an alcohol-based toner that strips their skin. Use a hydrating toner (like my Rose Aloe Hydrating Toner) to restore balance and prep your skin for serums and moisturizers.
✅ Don't Go Overboard with Actives
Retinol, Vitamin C, AHAs... layering too many actives can cause redness, peeling, and irritation. In this case, less is more! If your skin feels tight or inflamed, it’s time to scale back and give it some extra TLC.
✅ Wear Sunscreen Every Day
I know, I know, you’ve heard it a million times. But SPF really is the #1 anti-aging product. Make sunscreen part of your daily routine—rain or shine!
