3 Tips For Keeping Your Summer Glow This Fall

3 Tips For Keeping Your Summer Glow This Fall

Summer is by far my favorite season of the year and I'm always a little sad waking up to September's chilly mornings. Partly because I love being barefoot, lazy days at the beach, and a glass of wine on the porch with friends on a warm evening.

Most of all, though, I hate losing the glowing tan I got having fun in the sun and going back to pale skin. But I've found some great ways to extend that sun-kissed glow a little while longer and I'd like to share them with you:

1.     Get Your Vitamin D

As the weather gets increasingly chillier, we put on more clothes and stay indoors more often, but you still need to get your Vitamin D. I personally don't use artificial sunscreen, I just limit my time in the sun and rely only on natural SPF's. So make sure you get at least 30 minutes of sun per day (weather permitting, of course) and remember that it doesn't have to be all at once. For example, if you have a day job, break that 30 minutes up into short breaks when you avoid the lunch room and go outdoors instead. Not only will this extend your summer blush, but it will increase your mood and you get the Vitamin D you really need.

2.     Use Products With Natural SPF

Wait... you haven't heard of natural SPF's? There are a host of natural ingredients that contain natural SPF, and if you're getting balanced time in the sun, using natural SPF is a great way to keep your skin healthy, tan, and beautiful. Here is a short (but definitely not complete) list of skin-loving ingredients with natural SPF:

  • Almond oil: SPF around 5
  • Coconut oil: SPF 4-6
  • Red raspberry seed oil: SPF 25-50
  • Carrot seed oil: SPF 35-40
  • Shea butter: SPF 4-6

3.     Use Products With Raw Beeswax

Beeswax, itself, does not contain SPF, however it is LOADED with antioxidants, which are your best defense against environmental hazards to your skin. It is full of Vitamin A which produces Retinol (for anti-aging) and is a superior moisturizer!

So hang on to your summer glow a little longer by doing these 3 simple things. You will feel great about how you look!
